Squad Busters earns $28 million within its first three weeks

Supercell’s Squad Busters generated over $28 million from player spending on the App Store and Google Play within its first three weeks, according to market intelligence firm Sensor Tower.

The game ranked as the No. 2 global mobile game for downloads in May, despite its worldwide launch on May 29th, trailing only Garena Free Fire, which has amassed 1.64 billion installs since September 2017.

To date, Squad Busters has reached an estimated 44.3 million installs, with significant markets including the US, Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, and South Korea.

Pre-launch anticipation

Squad Busters had 40 million pre-registrations before its release and was promoted with a star-studded trailer featuring Chris Hemsworth, Christina Ricci, Ken Jeong, Will Arnett, and Aulii Cravalho.

Sensor Tower noted that Supercell led digital ad spending in the US on both desktop and mobile platforms from May 29th to 31st, covering Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter (now X), and YouTube.

Supercell marketing lead Rob Lowe told GamesIndustry.biz that the company could take risks with Squad Busters' launch due to their past successes.

“Not every mobile company could have launched like this, but we felt confident because of the anticipation," said Lowe. "We're fortunate at Supercell to have five successful hit titles, which allows us to take risks. Many mobile game companies can't afford to take such risks, especially in marketing.”
