On launch day, Star Wars: Hunters topped the App Store game download charts in the US, UK, and Canada

Zynga’s highly anticipated arena shooter, Star Wars: Hunters, made a significant impact on its launch day, ranking as one of the top 10 most downloaded App Store games in six countries, according to data from market intelligence firm Appfigures provided to PocketGamer.biz.

Launched on June 4th, six years after its initial announcement, Star Wars: Hunters secured the No. 1 spot for iOS game downloads in the UK, US, and Canada. Additionally, it ranked No. 5 in Hungary, No. 7 in Thailand, and No. 9 in Brunei. When considering overall downloads, including non-gaming apps, the game reached the top 10 in the US at No. 3 and in Canada at No. 8.

On the revenue side, Star Wars: Hunters broke into the top 100 grossing chart in Pakistan, ranking at No. 75 on launch day.

By June 6th, the game maintained its strong presence, ranking in the top 10 downloaded games in nine countries, and holding its No. 1 position in the US, UK, and Canada. It also entered the top 10 in Hungary, Thailand, Chile, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Singapore. Despite its strong download numbers, it only made it into the top 10 most downloaded iOS games in the US, where it ranked No. 8.

In terms of revenue, Star Wars: Hunters was among the top 10 grossing iOS games in 10 countries by June 6th, charting at No. 82 in the UK and No. 83 in the US.

For comparison, Supercell’s recent release Squad Busters topped the App Store download charts in 156 countries when it launched on May 29th. According to Sensor Tower, Squad Busters generated $1.1 million from player spending and 8.8 million downloads on its launch day, with Appfigures claiming the title has earned $10 million in its first week.

Early estimates from AppMagic indicate that Star Wars: Hunters has accumulated 790,000 downloads since its global release on both the App Store and Google Play, generating $458,000 from player spending.

In a recent interview, Zynga’s executive vice president Yaron Leyvand discussed the game’s long-awaited launch. Originally announced six years ago, Star Wars: Hunters reportedly had a development team of up to 300 staff.
