Netflix Opens Squid Game: Unleashed to Non-Subscribers with New In-Game Rewards
Netflix is making its new online party game, Squid Game: Unleashed, available to everyone — including non-subscribers — ahead of the highly anticipated second season of Squid Game.
Typically, Netflix’s games are exclusive to subscribers for download on mobile devices. However, in a recent blog post, the company announced that players can now earn in-game rewards by watching episodes of the new season. Rewards include cash and wild tokens, which can be used to level up characters, unlock mystery boxes, and purchase items from the in-game store.
The first reward is available to all players for free, with no need to watch any episodes to claim it. Additional rewards are tied to episode viewership, starting with 15,000 cash for free. Watching one episode unlocks 20 wild tokens, while the second episode grants 20,000 cash.
Rewards continue as follows:
Third episode – 25 wild tokens
Fourth episode – 25,000 cash
Fifth episode – 50 wild tokens
Sixth episode – 50,000 cash
Seventh episode – Binni Binge-Watcher outfit
Squid Game: Unleashed is an online party royale game that supports up to 32 players. Competitors face off in high-stakes versions of the iconic games from the series, such as Glass Bridge and Red Light, Green Light.
Building on Past Success
“Squid Game is Netflix’s most-watched series ever, and we want everyone around the world to be able to take part in its return by making Unleashed available to everyone, which is a first for Netflix Games,” said Netflix president of games Alain Tascan.
“Squid Game: Unleashed is all about playing with (or against) your friends in the iconic games from the series like Glass Bridge and Red Light, Green Light, so we’re inviting everyone into the chaos this holiday season.”
Earlier this year, Netflix removed Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City from its games library, leaving GTA: San Andreas as the sole remaining title from the Grand Theft Auto Definitive Edition Trilogy.
