Illuvium secures $12 million in funding for blockchain games
Blockchain games developer Illuvium has successfully raised $12 million in a Series A funding round, aimed at strengthening support for its upcoming titles within its interoperable gaming ecosystem. Leading the investment round are King River Capital, Arrington Capital, Animoca Capital, and Spartan, with additional participation from GoldenChain, Arca, Seven Capital, P2 Ventures, and other backers. This funding infusion brings the company's total funding to $60 million to date.
Illuvium is ambitiously building what it calls "the world’s first interoperable blockchain game universe", with plans to introduce three distinct games: Illumium Arena, Illumium Overworld, and Illumium Zero. While Arena and Overworld are tailored for PC gamers, Illumium Zero is a cross-platform title also available on Android devices. Currently in an alpha state, Illumium Zero is accessible to "landholders" – players who acquire in-game land and obtain ownership of NFT "fuel", a crucial resource across all three games aimed at stimulating trade.
Illuvium Overworld, a creature collector game, draws comparisons to Pocket Pair's popular title PalWorld, boasting hundreds of Illuvials to discover, capture, and collect. However, unlike Palworld, Overworld integrates NFTs to introduce a layer of investment and ownership. Moreover, it shares compatible resources with Illuvium's companion city builder.
To date, over one million individuals have registered their interest in Illuvium’s games, indicating significant anticipation and enthusiasm within the gaming community. With the latest funding injection and the promise of a groundbreaking interoperable gaming universe, Illuvium is poised to make a significant impact on the blockchain gaming landscape.
