Garena Free Fire marks its seventh anniversary, achieving a milestone of $4 billion in total revenue
Garena Free Fire is marking its seventh anniversary with a month-long celebration featuring themed rewards, nostalgic activities, and classic game features.
Starting today, June 26th, players can enjoy vintage elements from Free Fire's early days, such as the Mini Peak version of Bermuda and classic weapons.
Combined, Free Fire and Free Fire Max have amassed over $4 billion in lifetime revenue. The original Free Fire contributes $3.4 billion, while Free Fire Max has generated $615.7 million, according to AppMagic.
Over the years, the US has been the top revenue region for Free Fire, totaling $1.3 billion. Brazil follows with $510 million, and Thailand with $274 million.
In Free Fire Max, India leads in spending with $326.3 million, more than half of the HD game’s revenue. The US and Thailand follow with $104.7 million and $43.1 million, respectively.
Free Fire was banned in India in 2022 but returned last September. While Free Fire saw peak revenue during the pandemic, it has since declined to $23.3 million last month, compared to Free Fire Max's $20 million.
The anniversary celebration aims to evoke nostalgia with throwback events and enhancements, including weapon adjustments, anniversary gift boxes, and a new first-person mode in Clash Squad.
Garena has also partnered with Kadokawa Corporation to develop a Free Fire anime, set to premiere in Japan before a global release.
