Dungeon & Fighter: Mobile exceeds $800 million in revenue within four months
Nexon and Tencent's smash hit, Dungeon & Fighter: Mobile, has exceeded $800 million in lifetime revenue on the China App Store, just four months after its launch in the country.
According to estimates from AppMagic, the game has generated $808.9 million so far, and with availability on third-party Android stores in China, the actual total is likely much higher.
A heavyweight contender
As the latest installment in the $22 billion Dungeon & Fighter series, Dungeon & Fighter: Mobile has solidified the Chinese mobile market’s demand for another entry in this 19-year-old franchise, filling the gap left by Dungeon & Fighter: Spirit, which shut down in 2017.
China’s love for beat ‘em up action has earned Nexon and Tencent an average of $6.5 million per day in gross revenue through Dungeon & Fighter: Mobile. The game hit a record on June 22nd, pulling in $9.9 million in a single day.
In its first month, Dungeon & Fighter: Mobile reached $500 million in player spending in China and was on track to surpass $2 billion in revenue this year. However, growth has since slowed, with an additional $300 million earned over the next three months.
September has seen a decline in daily revenue, with the game rarely surpassing $5 million per day. Even on its slowest day, September 17th, the game still brought in $1.9 million.
Despite being a long-awaited adaptation of the original 2005 PC game, Dungeon & Fighter: Mobile faced years of delays in China due to the country's stringent regulations on the video game industry.
When Dungeon & Fighter: Mobile finally launched, its first month on iOS generated double the revenue of Tencent’s flagship title, Honor of Kings. Source: adapted from an article by Aaron Astle, News Editor for PocketGamer.biz
